Biomass is all organic material of recent origin. However, the term biomass is often used for organic materials that can be used for energy production as renewable energy source. Any fuel derived from biomass is called bio-fuel.

Benefits of using biomass as energy source

Most perspective renewables

Energy potential from biomass is assumed to exceed several times total energy production from oil and natural gas. However, the contribution of renewables (including biomass) in total consumption of primary energy sources is rather small (in the Czech Republic about 3% in 2004; 75% of that makes biomass). Bio-fuels are expected to substitute the major part of conventional non-renewable fuels as coal, oil and natural gas in future. In order to fulfil the indicative target of the Czech Republic (8% share of electricity from renewable sources on gross domestic electricity consumption in 2010), broader usage of biomass is necessary.

Biomass is the most perspective renewable energy source for both heat and power production in the Czech Republic. Why?

Our company, BTG Central Europe s.r.o., focuses on usage of biomass for energy production. More about our services.

BIOMASS RESOURCES

There is a broad range of biomass resources all over the world - both purposely grown biomass and waste. Why should we not use them?

Purposely grown biomass

Residual (waste) biomass
